Capable of stopping armor piercing ballistics, this 72mm thick sample of NASG armor laminate withstood the worst an M14 rifle firing NATO M80 ammunition could deliver.
North American Specialty Glass was one of nearly 600 exhibitors who participated in the 2007 Force Protection Equipment Demonstration VI (FPED VI) conducted at the Strafford Regional Airport in Strafford, VA and Quantico Marine Base, Quantico, VA from August 14th through the 16th.

Trumbauersville, Pa. - North American Specialty Glass (NASG) highlighted the company’s laminated armored transparencies for the defense industry at the 2007 Force Protection Equipment Demonstration VI (FPED VI).

FPED is the largest event of its kind and provides US military, civilian leaders and other federal, state and local decision-makers with an opportunity to experience the latest achievements in force protection.

This armor laminated SUV door window produced by NASG successfully repelled multi-hits from an M16 rifle.

NASG was one of nearly 600 exhibitors displaying and demonstrating defense equipment and security systems at Stafford Regional Airport, Stafford, VA, and August 14th through the 16th. Additionally, NASG was part of the many demonstrations requiring the firing of weapons on live-fire ranges at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Quantico, VA, during the two-day event.

The primary focus of NASG’s laminated armored transparency product line is to provide ballistic protection for a wide range of glazing systems, manufactured in full compliance with major international ballistic standards, suitable for armored military, law enforcement and commercial vehicles.

The bullet-stopping capabilities of NASG armored transparencies were put to the test during live-fire demonstrations on Weapons training Battalion Range 3 at the Quantico Marine Corps Base. At the firing range, a laminated SUV rear door window withstood attack from an M16 rifle fired by a Marine marksman, while a 72 mm thick sample of NASG armored laminate stopped several rounds of standard NATO M80 ammunition from an M14 rifle.

Laminated by NASG, a sample of Saint-Gobain's Sapphire transparent armor system produced from ceramic materials defeated rifle-fire from an M16.

"NASG is dedicated to advancing the application of armored transparency systems," said C.B. Leflar, sales manager for NASG armored and architectural transparency products. "Participating in FPED and showcasing our product offerings provides our company the opportunity to foster a sense of technical leadership among those who will shape the future of force protection."

The recognized industry leader in the development of glass and polycarbonate laminate technology, North American Specialty Glass devotes substantial resources to continually evaluate new products and equipment in an effort to provide engineered transparency systems in a wide range of applications for the security and protection needs of today's changing world.
